Short-Term Running Goals: Run a 1:25 or better half marathon in August. Run a 3:00 or better marathon in October.

| First serious Lactate Threshold run on a high school track in newport beach.
I was targeting 6:40 pace just to get a feel for what I could handle since my previous runs were on the road and had some error based on the accuracy of my Garmin GPS watch.
I ended up being pretty spot on for the first three miles, then I held on for mile 4 and at mile 5 I lost my focus and gave up for a few seconds. On the second lap, I made a commitment to not give up and then I relaxed and starting pushing harder. I was pretty happy with the performance despite not getting the times I wanted. I realized I needed to have more mental grit and focus when I run hard. This was a good first test towards that strategy.

| I used to run marathons but I stopped running for the past 2.5 years or so. I used to run 7:30 pace for my 20 mile runs. Well, today I attempted to go back to that strategy.
I had an awesome start with a 7:22 pace for the first half marathon. Then I started fading ... mile 14 7:55 pace 15 8:07 pace 16 8:05 pace to hold on for a 7:30 pace over 16 miles which for me is a recent victory. Mile 17 -19 were close to 8:15 pace plus a 45 second adder for a water fountain break. Then Miles 20, 21, and 22 were a crawl at 8:45 pace.
I ended up finishing my run at around 7:45 pace overall. Not bad but something to work on.
St. George is coming up soon and I need to be ready to push it much harder.
